You may have heard of these new potty training diapers invented by these dads from Utah. We're going to analyze this diaper, see how it works, then I'll show you how you can take your favorite adult diaper and turn it into a potty patrol alarm diaper that fits.
The starter kit contains the alarm, a brochure, and 24 senor diapers.
The diapers are a basic all-white cloth covered baby diapers with 2 wetness sensor strips that run the entire length of the diaper and snaps on the front to attach the alarm. The strips are colored for gender, blue for boys, pink for girls.
Potty Patrol Alarm Diapers are only available in one size. The size is 20" long x 11" wide.
Here it is stretched out next to a Luvs size 5. You can see they're about the same size.
Here's what the Potty Patrol Diapers look proportionately with the alarm snapped on.
A closer look at the alarm...
I dissected one of the diapers and for the most part, they have all the same features of a quality baby diaper; dual leak guards, soft inner liner, moderate layer of fluff and SAP (thicker than many baby diapers), crinkly waterproof plastic layer with thin foil wetness strips molded in the plastic, cloth-like outer cover, tape landing strip.
I don't notice any features gender specific about this diaper other than the color of the sensor strips. The padding is consistent thickness throughout the diaper and the sensor strips go the entire length. Eventually, I'll purchase the girl refill pack to compare, but for now, I see no difference so select whichever color you like better.
Now, if you want to try it for yourself, you'll need...
- Potty Patrol Sensor Diaper
- Potty Patrol Alarm
- Hole punch, scissors, or sharp knife
- Favorite adult diaper. I used AB Universe SDK for this demonstration.
2. Lay the sensor diaper in the middle of your diaper so the snaps are just above the padding in the front.
3. Peel the sensor diaper back and place the alarm were the snaps go to use as a template.
4. Feel for the snap bumps in the front of your diaper.
6. Use a hole punch, scissors or knife to cut holes for the snaps to pass through.
7. Lay the sensor diaper in place, attach the alarm and put your diaper on.
I like to reinforce my diaper tapes with clear or white duck tape because I use lots of baby powder and for a more snug fit.
When you wet your diaper, the alarm won't go off at first until wetness seeps through the padding and reaches the sensor strips. An alarm will sound and then play "Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star." It'll repeat every minute or so until the alarm is removed. It's not that loud and could be difficult to hear in a sound filled room. However, not impossible so keep that in mind if you decide to wear it in a public place.
